Lenovo is joining the 8-inch Windows 8.1 tablet party with the Miix 2, which costs an affordable $299. At 8.48 x 5.18 x 0.33 inches thick and 12.3 ounces, the Miix2 is smaller and lighter than the Acer Iconia W3 (8.6 x 5.3 x 0.44 inches and 1.1 pounds), as well as the Venue 8 Pro (13.92 ounces).
Inside, the Miix2 will have an Intel Bay Trail-T Quad Core processor, integrated Intel HD graphics, 2GB of RAM and up to 128GB of eMMC storage. Its IPS touchscreen will have a resolution of 1280 x 800-pixels, the same as the Venue Pro and the W3.

The Miix2 will have a front-facing 2-MP camera and a rear 5-MP camera. Connectivity includes Bluetooth 4.0, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and 3G-GPS3 mobile broadband.
Lenovo estimates that the Miix2′s battery life will be up to 7 hours, about an hour less than what Dell claims for the Venue 8 Pro. The W3 lasted nearly 9 hours on the LAPTOP Battery Test.
The Miix2 will support a stylus, a $20 option that also comes with a protective cover. Preloaded software includes Microsoft Home & Student 2013.
When it becomes available for sale later this month, the Miix2 will start at $299 with 32GB of storage; a $249 model will have 64GB of flash memory.
